Half-way through the term

We are half-way through the term and it is great to see everyone (including staff) settled nicely into class

Firstly I would like to congratulate Room 2 on their wonderful presentation of Cinderella (with a twist). The students performed with confidence and did a marvellous job. Well done, everyone!

Today we had our school photos. Thanks to all the parents and carers who returned the envelopes with payment for the photos, but for those of you who were unable to return the envelopes today, you can order the photos online up until next Wednesday 18th March without any additional cost. After that date, you can still order photos online, but it will incur an additional cost.

Last week letters went home with all Year 3 and Year 5 students regarding NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) which will take place in week 3 next term. As for the last two years, all tests will be conducted online, except for the Year 3 writing test which will still be handwritten. You may withdraw your child from NAPLAN if you do not want them to sit the tests. If you wish to withdraw your child, please see either me or our deputy principal, Mrs Garlett, to sign the withdrawal form. If you have any other concerns or questions regarding NAPLAN, please do not hesitate to contact me or one of our NAPLAN coordinators, Mrs Putrino or Ms Lynn, at the school.

In week 8, on Tuesday 24 March, three students from West Northam will be participating in swimming trials with students from Avonvale. From these trials, the AvonWest team will be chosen to represent both schools in the Interschool Swimming Carnival on Wednesday 1 April.

Finally, the P&C will be having their AGM on Wednesday 25th March at 3:30pm in the Parent Centre, children are welcome. The P&C desperately needs additional support of parents to continue to function, so please do come along and see how you can support your child’s school. We look forward to seeing you there
